A letter from the founders

Why we built Bloom

Dear Builder,

We all have an instinct to build. It’s how people have always survived, and how we make life better for the people around us.

For all the progress of the last few decades, building and scaling hardware is still harder than it needs to be. Finding the right shop, the right carrier, or the right space for a single quarter still runs on referrals, favors, and luck.

We know because we’ve been there: deep in CAD files, unboxing parts, driving forklifts and working in dark, cold (or hot) factories and warehouses. We know what it takes to put metal together.

When we started asking whether there was a better way, we kept landing on the same answer: there is.

Bloom isn’t inventing a new way to build. It’s an easier way to find and work with the people who are best at it.

This country is full of them. We’ve shown again and again that we can invent, build and deliver as well as anyone, and often better. A new generation of tools is making that work faster, and we think it’s the start of a renaissance in building real things. If this country is going to build more and compete, there’s only one way to do it: together. What’s been missing is the network that makes that possible. That’s what we’re building.

Whether you’re the one imagining a new answer to one of the world’s hardest problems, or the company positioned to build and deliver it, we want Bloom to be the network that connects you, and makes the work easier, faster and more efficient.

We’re only a few years in, and we’re already making connections that wouldn’t have happened otherwise: putting resources to work that didn’t look available, and introducing people and companies who would never have met. Each one moves this new wave of building a little further along. We may not have a name for it yet, but we’re confident it’s going to be great.

We didn’t start Bloom because it would be easy. We started it because we believe in the hardware being built, moved, serviced and used every day.

Three years ago, building here was an unpopular idea. That’s changing. More people now believe we can not only invent here, but build here too. The idea that we can’t is fading, and we want to help put it to rest.

We’re proud to be part of that shift. We hope you’ll join us, and help show others what’s possible.

Let’s Build,

Justin Kosmides
