Blast Radio found the right manufacturer for its Blast Box through Bloom customer story

The short version

  • Bloom's platform matched the Blast Box with providers that could handle multi-shot molding, circuit boards and full assembly.
  • Quotes came back quickly, with each part of the build priced on its own.
  • One provider in Bloom's network will build the whole Box, with the Blast Mic next.

Services used

  • Manufacturing

Blast Radio’s Blast Box, “a broadcast studio the size of your hand,” has quickly become a fan favorite. People love the design and the detail, from the high-fidelity audio streaming to the 384 red LEDs that glow through its molded face.

As Blast grew, it needed a manufacturer that could match its standard for quality and consistency, build after build.

That's a harder brief than it sounds. The Box's face is a multi-shot molded light pipe, using clear cones with layers of colored plastic molded around them so the LEDs shine through cleanly without the light bleeding. Add the circuit boards and final assembly, and Blast needed a multi-faceted and reliable provider that could do all of it well.

Blast brought the project to Bloom, whose platform turned their files into a structured request and matched it with injection molders, circuit-board assemblers and full-build providers in Bloom's network. Quotes came back quickly and Bloom's team supported Blast through each part-by-part comparison. Blast chose one provider to handle the molding, the circuit boards and the assembly, and they’re already looking at building out the Blast Mic.

"People notice the details in the Blast Box, and we weren't willing to compromise on them. Bloom's network found us a provider that could meet our specifications on every part, from the light pipe to the boards, and we're excited to keep building with them."
Yousef Ali, Founder & CEO, Blast Radio

What the network did for Blast Radio

  • Matched on capability

Bloom's platform matched Blast's request with providers that could handle multi-shot molding, circuit boards and full assembly, not just one part.

  • One partner for the whole Box

One provider will build the complete product, so one team answers for quality from the molded face to the finished Box.
